- Profile
- Abbot to over 500 Benedictine monks at the monastery founded by Saint Honoratus of Arles on the island of Lerins, Provence, France.
Warned in a vision that the monastery would be attacked, he managed to evacuate about three dozen of the students and younger brothers to the mainland by boat.
All but four of the remaining unarmed monks, including Porcarius, were slaughtered when Saracen invaders landed on the island; the four survivors were taken as slaves.
