Profile: Earl of the Orkney Islands, described as "elegant and accomplished". He made a vow to build a church in his lands; the result was the Saint Magnus Cathedral in Kirkwall. Murdered by a group of warriors rebelling against him, his rule and his religion, and considered a martyr in Kirkwall.
