- Fifth child of the Duke of Atri.
Nephew of Claudius Acquaviva, 5th General of the Jesuits.
Cousin of Saint Aloysius Gonzaga.
Joined the Jesuits on 2 April 1568.
Missionary to the East Indies, reaching Goa, India on 13 September 1578.
At the request of the Great Mogul Adbar, he evangelized the Mogul court and the region around Agra for three years.
Superior of the Salcete mission.

Blessed Alphonsus Pacheco,
Blessed Anthony Francis,
Blessed Francis Aranha, and
Blessed Peter Berno.
One of the Martyrs of Cuncolim.

- hacked to death by scimitars and spears on 25 July 1583 on Salsette near Goa; body thrown into a well; water from the well was reputed to have healing properties; the body was fished out after two and a half days, showed no decomposition, and was buried at the church of Our Lady of the Snows at Rachol;
relocated to the college of Saint Paul at Goa in 1597;
right arm translated to Rome in 1600;
remains relocated to the cathedral of Old Goa in 1862
