An officer (primicerius) in the army of Emperor Maximian. Held in high esteem by the emperor until he admitted being a Christian. Tortured and martyred. The city of Resapha, Syria was rebuilt by the Emperor Justinian, and the name was changed to Sergiopolis in his honour.

beheaded c.303 at Resapha, Syria; some relics in the church of Saints Sergius and Bacchus in Rome, Italy
