Prince of Mercia. Killed in his youth by his regent Bertulph, king of Mercia for opposing the marriage of Bertulph to Wistan's mother. Considered a martyr. Venerated at Repton.

murdered in 849; buried in Repton; relics translated to the Evesham abbey, and then the Evesham cathedral
