Saint Peter Julian Eymard: The Priest of the Eucharist
$7.95
In 1870, two years after the death of Father Eymard, a brief sketch of his life, personality, and spirituality appeared under the title, Priest of the Eucharist. The author of the sketch was Father Albert Tesniere, a close confidant of the Founder. After the beatification of Father Eymard in 1925, that work was considerably expanded by Father Henri Evers. the Processes for Beatification and Canonization of Father Eymard provided much information for a fuller biography. An English translation of that biography appeared in 1936. It has often been reprinted. As requests for information about Saint Eymard keep coming, the present reissue is offered.
Champion Of The Blessed Sacrament
$9.95
In this life of Saint Peter Julian Eymard, little attempt has been made to present him in any picturesque or romantic manner. As far as possible his letters, notes and reflections have been allowed to speak for him. I have tried to present in an orderly, accurate and readable manner, both the greatness of his destiny and the way he went out to meet it.
He is to be numbered among a noble and gallant band of heroic souls almost contemporaneous to us. His life was worked out under conditions much allied to our own. The world of today may move faster, the horrors of its wars be greater and the failure of its civilization be more apparent; but in essential and basic characteristics the nineteenth and the twentieth centuries are painfully alike.
I must add, in conclusion, that the invitation to write this Life was an honor conferred on me by the Blessed Sacrament Fathers, for which I am both justly proud and grateful, and to their Institute I dedicate this book. They have afforded me every possible help, supplying me with all the research matter, private, printed and published, that had reference to their saintly Founder.
It has been indeed a labor of love, and the greatest satisfaction will be mine if priests and people, reading the life of this Champion of the Blessed Sacrament, should come to understand the twin ideals of his plans for them and appreciate in true measure his holiness and the magnitude of his foundation.
Tomorrow Will Be Too Late: A Life of Saint Peter Julian Eymard
$10.95
At the end of the first session of Vatican Council II, Pope John XXIII canonized Saint Peter Julian Eymard, the Apostle of the Eucharist. Eymard (AY-mard), however, was not born with that title. In fact, his attraction to the Eucharist evolved over a long period of time. The title of this book, TOMORROW WILL BE TOO LATE, are the words he spoke to his sisters when he left the diocesan clergy to enter a missionary community. His sisters pleaded with him to remain one more day. His reply was: "God calls me now, Tommorrow will be too late." Peter Julian's entire life was a journey in faith; a journey spent discerning and responding to God's will. Eventually, after seventeen years as a Marist, he established a new religious community dedicated to the Eucharist. His journey is both fascinating and inspiring and one with which the reader can identify.
