Profile
A pious girl, at her request she entered a convent of the Order of the Visitation in 1704 at the age of eight, but was withdrawn by her parents in 1709. She re-entered in 1711, and made her profession on 23 January 1713. She gave herself over to a deep prayer life, which resulted in her work Spiritual Retreat. On 17 October 1713 she received a revelation of Jesus concerning the Sacred Heart.
Anne was consulted by many on spiritual matters, and used these opportunities to spread devotion to the Sacred Heart. She influenced Bishop Henri de Belsunce to found the Association of Perpetual Adoration of the Sacred Heart at Marseilles, France, and she wrote their laws; on 22 October 1720 bishop Belsunce instituted a feast of the Sacred Heart. Her work, the Association and the feast began the spread of devotion to the Sacred Heart that today has spread around the world.
